A TRIBUTE TO MY DADDY

I wish I could give a house or a car,
I'd love to give the moon and the stars.
I've alreaady given you the gift of my heart,
and when I was young, I gave my art.
But now I'm a bit older, a bit wiser you see
I'd like to give you what you gave to me.
See it wasn't the money, it wasn't the things,
It wasn't the clothes,toys or rings.
What you gave me was peace of mind,
That as long as you lived, things would be fine.
I'm not that little girl that you always see,
And I no longer need you to worry about me.
I'm not saying that I can do it all alone.
Nor am I saying our bond is gone.
I just want to give "you" a little peace of mind.
That your little girl is gonna be fine.
She has someone to watch over her by her side,
He'll never leave her, because in Him she abides.
So don't worry about me, but don't cast me away.
He gave me to you that Friday in May,
You've done what you could, that's all that He asks.
And I think He'd say, "Well done on your task."
I could continue to write line upon line,
I could write you a book, but we don't have the time.
So I'll end it with this, a smile and a kiss,
And thank you for being a Daddy to me
In this day and age, there aren't many you see,
But I have what most women never knew
A Daddy who loves me, and that Daddy's you.
So have a "Happy Daddy's Day", even though I can't be with you.
I send you my love, and His love too.
